Old Turtle's Review: 3.5/5 Stars

Pros: This movie is a must watch for all Sandler fans, entertaining and hilarious. One of the more entertaining comedies to come out this year. Filled with superstar cameos including Rob Schneider as usual, John Mcenroe, Mariah Carey, Chris Rock, Kevin James...

Cons: Probably too many penis jokes, as it gets old after a while.

Fingering Scarlet to Turn Her On

I'm sure most of you have seen the tv adverts of LG's hit new series of LCD tvs aptly named "Scarlet". So what do we know about scarlet? First off it's a new high tech tv, capable of sensing the surrounding ambient lights and adjusting the color and brightness of the screen accordingly. Besides this, what else do we know? Why did the designers call it "SCARLET?"

Well one thing is for sure, The Scarlet series has a striking appearance, utilising a bright red design which will appeal to viewers who want a TV that is attractive to look at as well as to watch. What else? Well after seeing this tv in person, I can tell you, Scarlet is an all round sexy bomb shell. The Koreans have certainly done their homework. Hahaha why did i come to this conclusion? Because the majority of their target audiences are male?

Let me ask you. How do u normally turn on a tv? By remote or by pressing a button on the TV itself right? So let me ask you again. How do you turn on a scarlet tv? Well for one, you can turn it on via remote. Besides that?

As you can see, the image above shows the front end of the Scarlet Tv. In the middle, we see a "round aperture surrounded by LED lights". Hahaha still not getting it? Well this, ladies and gentlemen is how you turn the Tv "Scarlet" on besides using the remote.
"You stick your finger into the hole, and rub the sides in a circular motion." Yes you heard it right people, you stick your finger into the hole, and rub the sides in a circular motion. Still don't get it? Well let me spell it out for you.

"YOU FINGER SCARLET TO TURN HER ON"

HAH! Koreans! Effing Geniuses!

Random Citation

Yawns, just another weekend flown by and followed by another week to come. Did me some random reading and came across a real witty post which I'll just feature here =3

p/s - no harm intended as it is just for reading pleasure, you be the judge of it ;)

When girls don't put out!!
This was written by a guy ... it's pretty damn smart.

Girls -- Please have a sense of humor!

I never quite figured out why the sexual urge of men and women differ so much. And I never have figured out the whole Venus and Mars thing. I have never figured out why men think with their head and women with their heart.

FOR EXAMPLE:

One evening last week, my girlfriend and I were getting into bed. Well, the passion starts to heat up, and she eventually says, 'I don't feel like it, I just want you to hold me.'

I said, 'WHAT??!! What was that?!'

So she says the words that every boyfriend on the planet dreads to hear...

'You're just not in touch with my emotional needs as a woman enough for me to satisfy your physical needs as a man.'

She responded to my puzzled look by saying, 'Can't you just love me for who I am and not what I do for you in the bedroom?'

Realizing that nothing was going to happen that night, I went to sleep.

The very next day I opted to take the day off of work to spend time with her. We went out to a nice lunch and then went shopping at a big, big unnamed department store. I walked around with her while she tried on several different very expensive outfits. She couldn't decide which one to take, so I told her we'd just buy them all. She wanted new shoes to compliment her new clothes, so I said, 'Lets get a pair for each outfit.'

We went on to the jewelry department where she picked out a pair of diamond earrings. Let me tell you... she was so excited. She must have thought I was one wave short of a shipwreck. I started to think she was testing me because she asked for a tennis bracelet when she doesn't even know how to play tennis.

I think I threw her for a loop when I said, 'That's fine, honey.' She was almost nearing sexual satisfaction from all of the excitement. Smiling with excited anticipation, she finally said, 'I think this is all
dear, let's go to the cashier.'

I could hardly contain myself when I blurted out, 'No honey, I don't feel like it.'

Her face just went completely blank as her jaw dropped with a baffled, 'WHAT?'

I then said, 'Honey! I just want you to HOLD this stuff for a while. You're just not in touch with my financial needs as a man enough for me to satisfy your shopping needs as a woman.'

And just when she had this look like she was going to kill me, I added, 'Why can't you just love me for who I am and not for the things I buy you?'

Apparently I'm not having sex tonight either....but at least that bitch knows I'm smarter than her.

A Tribute To The Best Vol.2

So, after much thought and consideration, I've decided to make "A Tribute To The Best" my trademark post in response to Old Turtle's "Entertainment Weekly" and Ah Beng Turtle's "A Slice of Life".

Today, I'm going to touch on a subject - quite a sensitive one, at that - that's been niggling at the depths of my mind for quite some time now.

This post is dedicated as a tribute to an actor who played a role so well that people had trouble differentiating between character and actor. It is dedicated to a family man, a father, a brother, a son and an outstanding actor who wow-ed fans and movie lovers all over the world with his masterclass of a performance in one of his last movies (The Dark Knight) before his passing - as the reincarnation of Batman's ultimate arch nemesis, The Joker.

This post is dedicated to Heath Ledger and The Joker.

Now, I'm pretty sure that one of the first things that came to mind when you saw that picture was probably something along the lines of,

"Why...so...serious?"

Or, "Let's put a smiiiile on THAT face!"

Right?

Now, I won't lie to you, I had my doubts when he was initially announced as Jack Nicholson's replacement as Batman's arch-nemesis in Christopher Nolan's Batman series. But after watching it last month - twice in a day, mind you - I've come down to the conclusion that no other man could've nailed this role any better. There's no denying that in spite of his excellent showing as a gay cowboy in Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain (a role which won him an Academy award for Best Actor) that THIS was an absolute virtuoso of a performance from the talented Australian.

"Why...so...serious?"

His performance not only impressed the neutrals and fans but also captivated the hearts of the more diehard Batman fans. His free reign in creating the character (Nolan had given him the freedom to create most of what we saw in the movie) had given us the opportunity to see a more dark and sinister Joker as opposed to the comical one portrayed by Jack Nicholson in 1989.

Now, that's not saying Jack Nicholson did a bad job as The Joker.

That's just saying that Heath Ledger simply did it to perfection.

"Welcome to a world without rules..."

The Joker that he created has given us a side of the villain that most of us - meaning the non-comic Batman fan - had never seen. The ominous aura of chaos and insanity gave us the perspective of Joker as a super-psychotic genius whose true purpose was to inflict chaos and destruction on Gotham city and, naturally, to generally make Batman's life a living hell.

Would The Dark Knight have done as well as it did in the box office without Heath Ledger as The Joker? I seriously doubt it. Heath's death might have propelled the ratings a tad bit but I personally feel that he singlehandedly made this film what it is today - a masterclass. I mean, Christian Bale's a great actor and all that but, c'mon - you gotta' be lying to yourself if you said you watched The Dark Knight to see Bale in action. I think I speak for most of us when I say that we watched the movie to see Heath Ledger as The Joker.

So instead of discussing the talented man's cause of death on some random discussion board on Facebook like we personally knew him, I think we should just salute the man for his outstanding ability to enthrall and entertain us with his performances. The only regret we should have is that we no longer have the chance to watch him perform.

Because he was, if any term was suitable to go by his greatness - one of a kind.

R.I.P Heath Ledger (1979-2008)

Rest in Peace, Heath. You'll always be remembered.

Chapter 2. "A slice of a techno addict's life."

Hello and welcome to another chapter of "A slice of life.".

As mentioned last week, this week, we will now look into the life of a technology addict. There was still the mystery behind the picture that we've seen. So what was missing in that picture? Well, you'll find out the answer later within this chapter.
But before i get to that, what is a technological addict or in short, the techno addict?

No, i'm not talking about those people that listen to noisy meaningless beats that you can hear coming from cars, with loud bass and repetitive tunes through out the whole track. A Techno-addict in my definition, is one who's addicted to the latest gadgets which are currently on market. Gadgets range from anything, from a mobile phone, to the latest gaming pc, mac, handheld consoles PSP or Nintendo DS to consoles such as PS3, Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, to HD LCD TVs, or the latest GPS systems for vehicles and etc.
So what is it that they seek? These techno addicts, seek to own the latest gadgets and work hard to own these items. They work hard and get a job to buy all these expensive and latest gadgets so they can catch up to the fast pace evolving technologies. But are they ever satisfied? In the short term yes, however when new and improved gadgets get into the market, these people will start regretting that they've bought something "obsolette" even though its just a few months old. So why even bother buying in the first place when these gadgets are forever changing and improving? It's because that owning these gadgets gives them ecstasy. They literally worship these gadgets.
And the answer has been revealed. It's a SONY BRAVIA 40'' HD LCD TV, which also comes with a free PS3. Yes, I am a techno addict. And i'm sure that most of you out there are techno addicts as well. The needs of owning a new handphone, camera or laptop are signs that you are one of them. So why is it that i spend my money that i've worked so hard for on such gadgets? Well, some people would say, save your money, for a vacation or save it for a rainy day, or maybe save it to treat yourself to a feast. Well, the reason why i bought something like this rather than going on a vacation is because, its an object, and something that last. Unlike something that is long term, vacations are short, maybe breath taking, however, its only short term. You only return with memories, and the urge of wanting to go back again or to never go back there again as its not always that the vacation planned goes according to plan.

Why not save for a rainy day you say? Well, have you ever felt as free as a bird that you forget how life is like when you used to be caged? It's been a while since i was last restrained from spending my money that i have the will power to even control myself to buying these gadgets. Yes, i do have a spending problem which i tend to solve now by getting a job. Hoping that my resume gets through to the manager tonight.

Treat myself to a feast? What goes in, must come out. Feels like a waste, and yes occassionally one would want to indulge in fine dining and etc, but its not fun going out fine dining alone. So in conclusion, techno addicts will work, starve and not save any money at all to buy these gadgets. All these for that moment of ecstasy of unpacking these gadgets from their box and taking it out for a test run.

That is all i have to say about techno addicts in this chapter, stay tune for next weeks chapter, "A slice of a gamer's life." where there's a little bit of you in every slice.

Below is a sneak preview of what's likely the subject would be on about.

Would you like me to light that cigarette for you?
Mind if i join you for a ciggie break?

P.S: The pictures above are meant to annoy a certain friend who's a huge fan of Metal Gear Solid.

A Tribute To The Best Vol.1

Hello, cruel world.

I've been sick. Very, very, very sick.

And I think I've just figured out why.

The best freakin' roti canai in Kuching! Not too soft, not too crispy. Just the way I like it.

And the tasty curry gravy accompanied by a tender chicken drumstick - which, I suspect now, to be the cause of my misery in the past couple of days.

This particular Roti Canai can be found at Restoran Maju Jaya which is located at RH Plaza, BDC residential area, recommended to be had with the customary Teh Tarik Ais. I also highly recommend the Nasi Briyani, which according to others (I've never tried it, I've been hooked on the roti since my introduction to the place) is pure heaven.

Oh, sure, it gave me a tummy ache or two.

But
damn. It was worth it.

P.S. And for the benefit of those who are experiencing financial difficulties such as I am - it's dirt cheap, too. =)

4 More Movies by DC to come out by 2011

With The Dark Knight not only the biggest hit of 2008 but also one the highest grossing movies of all time, Warner Bros. is understandably eager to bring director Christopher Nolan and star Christian Bale back to the Batcave as soon as possible.

According to
The Wall Street Journal, "The studio is set to announce its plans for future DC movies in the next month. For now, though, it is focused on releasing four comic-book films in the next three years, including a third Batman film, a new film reintroducing Superman, and two movies focusing on other DC Comics characters."Given the success of the grim and gritty Dark Knight, Warner Bros. Pictures Group President Jeff Robinov says the studio's upcoming DC movie slate is "going to try to go dark to the extent that the characters allow it.

"It was
recently reported that Warners has an offer out to Nolan to direct Batman 3 but that the director had yet to commit to it. Studio boss Alan Horn told Variety at the time, "We have no idea where Chris is going with this. ... We haven't had any conversations with him about it."

Old Turtle's Quote of the Day

"Growing up happens in a heartbeat. One day you're in diapers, the next day you're gone. But the memories of childhood stay with you for the long haul. I remember a place, a town, a house, like a lot of houses. A yard like a lot of other yards. On a street like a lot of other streets. And the thing is, after all these years, I still look back...with wonder...."

HEROES season 3

Heroes season 3 is just around the corner!!! Here is what's to come in the new season! Two new faces!

-wireimage.com
Yes fans! Seth Green and Breckin Meyer. The two would play comic book fans who end up advising at least one of the main characters. Ausiello had originally noted the duo would be named Doogie and Seth, referencing Doogie Howser and The O.C.'s Seth Cohen (a huge comic book fan himself), but now says the names of the characters are still being decided upon.

----------SPOILER ALERT!----------

In the premier episode of Heroes season 3, we pick up with all of the main characters where last we saw them, including Maya and Suresh; Sylar; Hiro; Claire and the trio of Nathan, Peter and Matt. Nathan of course was in a very bad scenario when last we saw him, having just been shot.

NBC is not keeping it a secret that both Adrian Pasdar and Ali Larter -- whose character Nikki was also in big trouble at the end of Season 2 -- are back this season, and both actors are seen in the premiere, though we'll keep quiet on how they play into the story exactly.

Also appearing in the premiere is George Takei, reprising his role as Hiro's father. His character has been fairly firmly established as dead of course, but that hasn't stopped him from guest starring more than once now. Hiro's story is an interesting one here, as he makes a major resolution regarding his powers and also makes some big discoveries. We meet his new nemesis, a female speedster who comes off as rather sassy, with a devil may care attitude and the impression that she's only watching out for herself -- somewhat like an even colder version of Season 1's Invisible Man, Claude.

She's not the only new character with powers we meet in the premiere – several others are glimpsed, as a place called "Level 5" is introduced, which establishes more of an overall mythos behind The Company and the people involved in it.

Nubcake?

Nubcake? Due to the alarmingly increase of people wanting to know what exactly is a "Nubcake", Game Turtle has decided to enlighten all you nubcakes in his debut post =D

nubcake
1) noun -

A person lacking experience and/or common sense at computer games.
Used as an insult that typically irritates the person at whom it is being directed. Derived from the word nub, which is a variation of the word noob. Usually the word nubcake is exchanged among experienced players in a joking manner, since most real nubs would not understand its meaning.

2) verb -

In an act of nubness.

Usage
"wow...gg, ally is a complete nubcake"

"lol noob, would you like some nubsauce with ur nubcakes?"

"you are such a nubcake, go get some skillz!"

And there you nubcakes have it, the correct definition of "Nubcake". And with that, a video to compliment the definition.

A slice of life; Chapter 1: "A slice of a bum's life"

Welcome to the weekly post called "A slice of life." I've decided to start this blog for a few reason. First reason being, I just have to post something, two i've got nothing better to do and lastly this might be interesting. "A slice of life" touches on different types of personality each week.

Chapter 1. "A slice of a bum's life."

So what makes a bum, a bum? Is it the way he is capable of living in clutter? Is it how he could not care to groom himself? Is it the fact that he won't cook and only buys take outs? Is it the fact that he's lazy? What induces them to live their life with not a single care? Then you'd ask yourself this question, am i one?
I would classify myself as a part-time bum. Why do i say that? Well, when i have nothing better to do, i'd clean up after myself and do radical changes to my room or myself (like the recent spontaneous decision of being "Ah Beng"). When i'm overloaded with uni work and etc, i'd probably be sleeping under a pile clothes on my bed. Or eventually having loads of crap on the floor that i find the top the level of the floor matches the top of my mattress (over-exaggerating) which i won't be bothered cleaning up until i'm done with all my work.

So why is it that bums rather chuck their rubbish or things to the floor rather than in the bin or organising them neatly? And why is it that its only cleaning and reorganising is done when the mess is over the top? My opinion is, we find a sense of accomplishment or satisfication in cleaning up and reorganising a room filled with tonnes of clutter rather than a small amount of it.

It's just that feeling where you feel that your in a room looks new even though you didn't move any of the furniture. That way it will take so much longer for you to get sick of it and start to reorganise the furniture again. Also, the fact that you've cleared up more space, you get the feeling that you've got room to stretch those legs of yours.

The only part of my bum's life that i won't change is cooking for myself. Indeed, living a life surviving on take outs is costly and unhealthy, but the time taken for me to prepare a meal is so long that by the time i'm done cooking, i've pretty much lost my appetite due to gastric.

So in conclusion to this, there's a bum in everyone. Guys can be lazy to fix their hair for a day, or girls can be lazy by deciding not to put make up on for a day, or a family that decides to eat out to treat themselves over a hard days work.

So next week in Chapter 2 of "A slice of life." we'd tune into a life of a technology addict. What makes them spend all their money on technology and why are they never satisfied with what they have.

Also what is missing in the picture above? Stay tune to "A slice of life" where there's a little bit of you in every slice.

Jackson as Mace Windu.

OLD TURTLE'S REVIEW: 2.5/5 stars!
(An average movie. Entertaining, but otherwise not really worth watching in the theaters. Should have been a direct-to-dvd feature, really.)

----------------------------

OLD TURTLE'S GADGET CORNER

What's new in the tech world? Well, a lot, really - but I'll only cover what interests me, muahahaha!

PSP 3000

Yes, there's a new version of the PSP (Playstation Portable) and yes there're no changes to it's design. Then why is it new you ask? Well it's got:

-A New Built-in Microphone, for you skyping needs.

-AVI Format support for Videos!

-New AV support so you can play games on non progressive TVs (meaning playing games on normal lame tvs)

-New LCD screen as having "a wider color gamut and higher contrast ratio to deliver deeper, more vibrant colors, as well as anti-reflection technology so you can see the screen more clearly when playing outdoors."

So if any one of you are planning to get a PSP, you might wanna wait a couple more months for this particular version to come out, as it is much, much more superior than the previous incarnations.

PS3 Controller Wireless Keypad

Having problems browsing the internet, chatting or blogging on your PS3? Well soon you problems will be solved when Sony releases one of these! The black keyboard clips on over the front of the DualShock 3/SIXAXIS with the keyboard located above the main controller area.

The wireless keyboard also features a touchpad mode to allow for mouse input. David Reeves, president of SCEE, said that this touchpad control mode may be used in future game development.

The keyboard will ship in eight configurations in Europe to support the numerous languages and keyboard types in the continent.

In Response to Old Turtle's BPL Predictions

That's right, Old Turtle. You didn't think I'd actually go to sleep without posting a retort, did you? Haha.

Ahem. Right. So without further adieu, here's my top 4 and the unbiased reasons supporting them:

4) Liverpool

Oh, that's damn freakin' right, Old Turtle. It took me a while to pick between your lot of underachievers and Arsenal (who, by the way, I'm picking to come 5th this season), but after much thought, I think it's a reasonable call.

Simply put, they don't have enough quality in depth. With the exception of the sensational Torres and the sometimes magical Gerrard, there's not really much that Liverpool could call on to put on a show. Babel's still fairly inconsistent, Dirk Kuyt will NEVER be a World-class striker and let's face it, Daniel Agger aside, Liverpool's defense look like they could really, really struggle this season.

But then again, there's still a certain Robbie Keane. So we'll see how that goes.

3) Tottenham

Now, I know they lost on the opening weekend, but still, there's no denying the quality and flair that Spurs have at their disposal this season.

I mean, think about it. Darren Bent scored like 13 goals in 4 friendlies. Modric, Bentley, dos Santos really seem to complement each other, and we're not even talking about Berbatov, Lennon or Huddlestone yet. Now this is a team with a lot of firepower, which kinda reminds me of that of Arsenal's Unbeatables a few years back - when their midfield was creating more chances than they could finish (Pires, Ljunberg, Bergkamp, Vieira and co) . Defensively, they've got a solid left-wingback in the form of Gareth Bale and a central defence duo that consists of Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King - when fit - IS formidable, if you ask me.

Hell, even their new 'keeper, that Gomes fella looks good. So, yeah.

Spurs for third.

2) Chelsea

A lot of people seemed impressed by The Blues' performance on the opening weekend. I mean, sure, they played well
at home against a half-decent side and 4-0 is quite a formidable scoreline, yes - but am I only one who thinks Chelsea are being over-hyped here?

OK, before those who knows where my allegiance lies when it comes to football starts bashing me - hear me out. There's no denying Chelsea's quality, yes. A team that boasts names like Deco, Ballack, Lampard and Drogba ought to be reckoned with. Their improvement in the past couple of seasons, starting with Mourinho's reign and now Scolari's reign, has been extraordinary, no doubt about that.

But
think about it. Chelsea has ALWAYS been strong. Hell, I'll even go as far as saying that they probably have had the best squad in the past three seasons - because it's true.

But what do they have to show for it?

Two BPL titles, a couple of league cups, a couple of FA cups, and a Champions league final appearance.

Which should be a splendid achievement, if we're being truthful.

But then again, if we ARE being truthful, we're also talking about a team whose billionaire owner has spent, to date, around 300 million pounds in transfers in five seasons, has seen two great managers sacked and dissent in the locker room until, of course, Scolari came.

Being truthful would be to say that Chelsea have
underachieved. The amount of money spent should have ensured a dominance in the league and in Europe - which looked likely in the earlier Mourinho reign - until, of course, the owner started being a real prick.

Scolari's a great manager, I don't doubt that. Hell, I'm a big fan of Big Phil. But then again, Jose Mourinho and Avram Grant were great managers, as well.

It's the guy up there, signing the cheques and asking for instant results that's really fucking things up at the club. Buying established players are good, no doubt, but in today's game - there's also the demand for youth. Hence why Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd are always developing or buying younger players.

When was the last time we saw Chelsea invest in youth? Wayne Bridge? Glenn Johnson? Two promising youths who, in the end, were sold to lesser clubs not because of the lack of potential but because of the
lack of time to develop at a big club.

Which makes my point, exactly. There's no way that Chelsea can ever breed youth. There's just no time. Abramovich demands instant success. He's always been like that since day one he bought the club.

Which is why I think they'll falter again this season. And the season after. And the season after that.

My honest-est opinion?

They'll end up like Bayern Munich of the old. Which is a good thing.

Because I really, really hate them. :)

1) Champions of the BPL

Haha, so I'm biased. But screw you guys, I don't need a reason for this one.

I just love them :P

My Predictions for the 08/09 BPL Season

Last weekend was the start of the 08/09 BPL season. We saw 3 of the Big 4s winning their opening matches, while MAN UTD only managed a 1-1 draw with Newcastle. As any team in the english premier league knows, it is vital to not lose your opening games.

I'm not jumping to any conclusions just after the first game, but I have a gut feeling, 08/09 will be Chelsea's season. Liverpool might come 2nd :) *HINT HINT* while Man Utd might stumble to third spot and Spurs holding the 4th.

My reasons:

Chelsea(1st): Deco, Lampard, Ballack,Cole <.... wtf is this?? Where got fight superstar chin!!!
Liverpool(2nd): Gerrard, Torres, Keane, and Pepe REINA!

Man Utd(3rd): No one up top LOL!

Spurs(4th): It's about time lar!

Arsenal(5th): Lack of any influencial players, besides Fabregas.

The Babe Magnet?

I don't recall women were made out of steel, but what's interesting is these dogs do attract the attention of many women. What is it that these dogs have that us men don't? These dogs poop and piss everywhere but yet, they are still cared for by these women. If we were to poop and piss around like they do, we'd probably get forced to wear diapers,

or sent to the mental institute. This question remains a mystery to men all around the world. I've literally seen this dog being hugged and taken photos with as if this dog's a celebrity. If its the pink hair, we men could do the same.

But from what i've noticed, hardly any guy out there would have pink hair. Even if they do, i don't recall women swarming , hugging and taking photos individually with them. Would it be the features of these dogs?

So if we look like this, will women come swarming at us, hugging us and take photos with us?
The only swarm we'll probably get is the SWAT or the army shooting tranquilizers at us and the only photos that would be taken will be by reporters. But the question still remains unanswered. What is it that these dogs have that we don't. The truth is out there.

Where is Carmen Sandiego?

This is quite "old" news.

I'm sure most of you with a happy childhood can remember the cartoon series "Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?"

Well, after all these years, they finally found her. Kata pepatah: "Better late than never."

This was taken by someone and posted online, hope I'm not infringing any rights, lol.
